Every year the number of foreign tourists spending their weekends or holidays in Almaty is growing. Zakon.kz correspondent was told in the tourist information center Visit Almaty about the amenities that create for the guests of the metropolis.
The Almaty Tourism Information Center regularly collects statistics on arriving passengers in the city of Almaty through the Almaty International Airport.
So, according to the data of the Border Service of the National Security Committee of the Republic of Kazakhstan of the Almaty International Airport, 445 thousand passengers arrived in 2016, 508 thousand in 2017 and 525 thousand in 2018 (foreign citizens).
In January-August 2019, more than 393.4 thousand passengers arrived (compared to the same period in 2018, an increase of 15%).
It should be noted that the largest flow of tourists came from the Russian Federation and amounted to more than 103.9 thousand, in second place is China - more than 32.3 thousand, the number of tourists arriving from Turkey more than - 20.1 thousand, from South Korea more 19.3 thousand and from Germany - more than 17.8 thousand
«Arriving in one of the most beautiful cities of not only Kazakhstan, but all of Central Asia, at the airport or train station in Visit Almaty information kiosks, tourists can immediately get the necessary information about the routes of urban public transport, a map of the city, and also get full information about all city sights and ways to get to them», – explained the director of Visit Almaty Nygmet Zhunusov.
Today, there are 8 information points in the city (a tourist hub on Baluan Sholake, the international airport of Almaty, at the intersection of Abaya St. and Dostyk Ave., at Panfilova St., at railway stations 1 and 2, at Nazarbayev St., Church House and Medeu). For the first 9 months of this year, more than 30.3 thousand tourists received advice at information points (an increase of 1.5 times compared to the same period in 2018).
In addition, in Almaty, at key intersections and stops, information signs are installed indicating the current location and the shortest route to the nearest attractions. Information can also be obtained using a QR code, pointing to which you can get to the corresponding site.
A kind of Visit Almaty headquarters is a tourist hub located in the Baluan Sholak Sports Palace. It opened on November 2, 2018. During the year, 88 events were held here, including educational, cultural, aimed at the development of tourism. In addition, near the tourist hub along Baitursynov Street there is a parking for tourist buses, which you can use to visit the sights in the vicinity of Almaty and in the Almaty region.
Visit Almaty Tourist Information Center LLP provides guests and residents of Almaty with professional advice on the tourist potential of the metropolis, including maps, guides, atlases of mountain routes, brochures of tour operators, announcements of cultural events. The sole participant of the LLP is the Akimat of Almaty, which owns a 100% share in the authorized capital.
