The budget for the implementation of the state program for the development of the tourism industry will be more than 1 trillion tenge.
The new state program for the development of tourism in Kazakhstan is designed to improve the availability and quality of tourist services and products, as well as the quality of life of the population. At the same time, the active role of the state at the initial stage of its implementation presupposes the support of the subjects of the industry. Timur Duisengaliyev, deputy chairman of the board of the National Company of Kazakh Tourism, JSC, told the Expert Update meeting organized by the Vlast internet-magazine, how the Capital Program will be implemented, reports Business Information Center Kapital.kz..
Kazakhstan ranks 81st out of 136 countries in the Global Tourism Rating according to World Tourism Forum's (WTF). It is this fact that was taken as the basis of the first State program for the development of the tourism industry until 2025, approved by the Government of the Republic of Kazakhstan on May 31, 2019.
The goal of the program is to ensure that the share of tourism in the total GDP of the Republic of Kazakhstan is at least 8% by 2023.
The budget for its implementation will be more than 1 trillion tenge. According to the Deputy Chairman of the Board of Kazakh Tourism, Timur Duisengaliyev, about 450 billion tenge will be allocated from the budget, while the remaining amount is expected to be raised by private investors.
«This program is supported by the budget for the first time, and for its implementation a project office has been created, which is a vertical from the Prime Minister to the local executive authorities in the regions», – Timur Duisengaliev stressed.
The criteria on which it is based include the infrastructure development, openness, the state of the tourist staff, and the attractiveness of the national parks and cultural heritage of the country.
The main directions of tourism are defined: agro-tourism, hunting and trophy tourism, ecological tourism, ethnographic tourism, youth tourism, medical and sanatorium-resort tourism.
At the same time, support and development of other areas of tourism, such as educational, social, gastronomic, ecological, camping, autocaravanning, business, shopping, sports, sacral, pilgrim/religious, nostalgic, equestrian, foot and others, are expected.
«We have now chosen four priorities, he first is the Almaty region, Lake Alakol on both sides. The second is the Almaty mountain cluster. The third is the Shchuchinsko-Borovskaya zone. Fourth - Turkestan and Mangystau. An investor came into Mangystau today, the Sembol group starts building a large resort hotel», – commented Timur Duisengaliyev
The Deputy Chairman of the Board of Kazakh Tourism is convinced that Kazakhstan needs to win back from the neighboring republics the status of a country with a historically nomadic civilization.
According to him, the primary task in the development of a mountain cluster should be to conduct an audit of previously developed plans in order to update the assessment, which zones can be developed and which ones cannot. “The second question is that we are fundamentally determined to prevent any steps until a good full-fledged calculation of the recreational load is made,” he added.
However, according to Timur Duisengaliyev, the National Company Kazakh Tourism does not support the construction of the resort in the Kok-Zhailau tract.
