In the Talgar district of the Almaty region, another project has been completed on the basis of public-private partnership. Year-round alpine skiing complex of sports and family type "Oi-Karagai - Forest Fairy Tale" occupies 85 hectares and it is aimed at developing tourism, the press service of the mayor of Almaty region reports.
Regional akim Amandyk Batalov noted the important role of the complex in the development of mountain tourism, attracting to mass sports, as well as promoting a healthy lifestyle.
«During the working visit to the Almaty region, the Head of State gave a number of instructions on the development of the tourism cluster. In particular, the need to develop mountain tourism in the area from Shymbulak to Turgen gorge was stressed. (…) State support and overhaul of 6.2 km of the republican highway to the complex was carried out. Investor has invested 60 million US dollars of own funds in this ski resort», - he said.
The investor, the president of the Alina group of companies, Yerlik Balfanbayev, expressed his gratitude to the regional authorities and representatives of the Kazakh Tourism National Company for their support in the project implementation and thanked the Austrian colleagues for the professional advice during the construction of the project.
The ski resort will work all year round. In summer, the ski slopes will be cycling. The complex is located at an altitude of 1500-1800 meters above sea level. In the coming years, the length of the existing 13-kilometer ski runs is planned to be increased to 40 kilometers.
